This Isn’t Forever: Coping with Uncertainty

Filed Under: Choice, Parenting, Relationships Tagged With: coping, family, pandemic, uncertainty

When you face ongoing challenges, it can be hard to imagine life being any different. If that was ever true, it feels even more so now in the midst of a global pandemic. Here in my part of the United States, we are two weeks into shutdowns of schools and non-essential businesses, with people shifting…

If an Apple Watch is on Your Bucket List

Filed Under: Bucket Lists, If... is on Your Bucket List Tagged With: bucket lists, expectations

My husband bought me an Apple Watch for Christmas last month after having one himself and really appreciating it. I was excited, but didn’t really know what to expect from it.  In the weeks since I started wearing it, I’ve been surprised by some of the features that make a difference for me. So I…

Overwhelmed by Opportunity

I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do on this blog. I haven’t written much this year, mostly due to my commitment to giving my family more attention. But definitely not for a lack of things to write about. My family and I have certainly not stopped living the bucket list life. In…

I talked in my last post about how I’ve been using a bullet journal recently and have been discovering just how well it works for bucket list living. One of the layouts common to bullet journaling that lends itself well to those trying to check off items from their bucket…

My Favorite New (Analog) Bucket Listing Tool: The Bullet Journal

Listing, organizing and generally keeping track can be a great source of joy in the journey toward living out your dreams. After all, I’ve talked before about how anticipating the culmination of a life goal can be as exciting as reaching the goal itself. If you don’t keep track of what your goals are, or how…

Books Currently Inspiring My Bucket List

Have you ever felt like you’re out of words, that you don’t have anything to say or anything new to add to the conversation? Have you ever felt emptied out and ready to just rest from going after your dreams and goals? Like you want to sit on the sidelines and watch for a little…

Embracing Reality – Sand in Your Shorts & All

Filed Under: Bucket Lists, Choice, Hopes Tagged With: bucket lists, expectations, purpose

As a bucket list fan, I love seeing photos of people’s adventures. Looks of triumph after conquering a steep climb or weathering rough seas, smiles of glee against the backdrop of a well-known destination, and peaceful scenes of relaxation and frolicking. Perhaps like this one: We need these types of photos – ones that capture the…

Being Present in Transition

We’re a family in transition. We have been for a few months now. My husband started a new job in early May. Our eldest graduated from high school a few weeks later and then left the state for a summer job. Our sixteen-year-old took her first job a month after that. It has been exciting…

Celebrating Another Bucket List Goal: The Launch of Everbloom

Filed Under: Books Tagged With: Everbloom, Redbud Writers Guild

I’m excited to announce another bucket list goal I can check off: being published in a book. I’ve had hundreds of articles published, and I’ve written three books of my own. But this latest project is something completely new for me because in it I get to be a part of a compilation and it’s…

Call me a homebody, an indoor maven, a wimp-in-need-of-climate-controlled-comfort. Those would all be accurate. But I’m learning how to embrace time in the outdoors and find ways to experience the benefits of nature that suit my personality. Which makes me a Reluctant Naturalist.

If, like me, you know fresh air and time in out in the open are good for you if you could just figure out how to overcome your indoor inertia, then I hope you’ll stick around to learn along with me.
